Quick Translate Engine

A desktop translator that turns on-screen subtitles, in-game chat or text in images into your language with one key, including an offline mode.

Quick Translate Engine translating an on-screen subtitle in real time

Overview

Whether you are translating a movie subtitle, chatting with foreign teammates in a game or reading text inside an image, Quick Translate Engine removes the language barrier on your screen with a single key. Released in Steam Early Access, it has since gained an offline translation mode that needs no internet connection.

Design focus

Translation that never breaks your flow. The user marks an area of the screen; the tool tracks it live, captures every new subtitle and overlays the translation. In offline mode the models run on-device: users download only the languages they need, and memory is freed when offline mode is switched off.

What we did

  • Windows desktop application
  • Screen-region tracking and text capture
  • Overlay layer that places translations on top of the screen
  • Online and offline translation modes (Standard / High Quality)
  • Per-language model downloads and smart memory management
  • Interface in 16 languages
  • Steam Cloud support and Early Access release
